Considering Improvement Through a Growth Mindset

Here’s some advice that doesn’t apply to any one singluar individual, group of persons, or business entity. It’s advice you can use whether you’re an artist, athelete, entreprenuer, educator, or stay-at-home parent. A growth mindset applies across all of these roles because improvement is personal, not positional.

As we gear up for holidays, and reflections, and new year intentions remember to always be consider improvement. A growth mindset encourages reflection without judgment, especially during moments of transition and intention-setting.

If any part of your life requires you to interact with other people frequently, and if you provide anything to others – paid or unpaid, physical, or intangible – always, always consider improvement. This is where you take your own personal growth from theorectical concept/goal and into practical real time action.

How can you improve this experience for yourself, for them? How can you improve your understanding? Can you improve your delivery? How can you improve the service? Your products?

How can you improve your morning routine? Can you improve your client on-boarding process? Your time mangement? Your self-talk? How can you improve your mental focus? Your emotional stability?

How can you improve your immediate environment? Your present comfort in your immediate environment right now?

A growth mindset begins with awareness of what’s immediately in front of you.

Improvemnet Is Not About Perfectionism

It’s not about perfectionism, or being hard on yourself for not reaching some arbitrary imaginary standard. A growth mindset is flexible, not punishing.

Considering improvement is an exercise in being present. It requires you to actively check-in with yourself. How can you personally improve this moment of your life – according to your own standards of what’s good, better, or best? You determine what improvement actually means to you, in this second. You ask and answer yourself honestly. And sometimes maybe nothing can be improved. Good!

A healthy growth mindset recognizes when things are already aligned.

If you find yourself in a moment of sublime indivdual perfection, soak that in with gratitude and enjoy how it feels.

And try to see how many of those moments you can tally up as the days and months of the next year pass by.

Defining Improvement Through a Growth Mindset

Find satisfaction and joy in the moments of your life, your career, and creativity. Create those moments by determining your own standards and holding yourself accountable for maintaining them. Your personal growth mindset relies on consistency, not comparison.

You decide good, better, best.

Consider your own ideals, and ideas of improvement.
