The time to make your business website better is now. It’s time to improve your homepage or any landing page on your business website.
If you haven’t yet gotten serious about your own business goals, even as you watch the world economy prove that it will fore sake you time and again, then you’re silly and I can’t talk to you. I don’t write for, or engage with people who’re too afraid to act in scary times, or too unmotivated to act in secure times.
How To Make a Homepage / Landing Page for Your Business
Here are the basics: Every webpage has what we call “Above the fold.” This is the top section of a webpage that takes up the entire visible space – BEFORE YOU SCROLL – when the browser window is at full size, or full screen. Use your space above the fold smartly, because you have 3 seconds before someone decides to scroll or leave.
Best Engagement Techniques For Your Landing Page
- Use a strong background graphic – one that has good resolution, and is clearly tied to your brand ethos.
- Use a brief and CLEAR Main messaging for the first text that people see. Skip the rambling, run-on sentence. 10 words or less, remember? Use large font – and keep it to the point. Tell visitors what you give them but in an abstract and romantic way.
- Minimal follow-up subtext under the main message, elaborates a little more.
In three seconds with A BOLD image that ignites an emotional reaction, and with a simple CLEAR message you’ve just let your site visitor know whether or not you’re right for them.
Remember, you, your work, and your website isn’t for everybody and you shouldn’t want to be. You want to be exactly for your target audience/client. So keep your imagery and messaging CLEAR, and simple.
